The father of Ayurveda is known to be Dhanvantari, the Hindu Deity of medicines who received the knowledge from Brahma. The earliest traces can be found in Atharvaveda (c. 2nd-millennium BCE). Taking Vedas as a foundational source, later Ayurveda was explored to write medical texts and Ayurveda books.

Ayurveda teaches us to cherish our innate-nature – ‘to love and honor who we are,’ not as what people think or tell us, ‘who we should be.

-Prana Gogia

According to the University of Minnesota’s Center for Spirituality & Healing, more than 90% of the people in the Indian subcontinent congenitally reckon Ayurveda as a way to their medical treatment. As per WHO, presently, more than 70% of the world’s population relies on the nonconventional medicines having herbal sources to deal with their healthcare.

Though Ayurveda is gaining popularity globally, this is taken as an alternative approach for healthcare and wellness.

Ayurveda as an Alternative Option

In the present scenario, the need is leading us to make Ayurveda as an alternative option for the treatment. While undergoing allopathic treatment, there are several challenges that a patient has to face. Ayurvedic treatment is highly effective as compared to the allopathic, but the horizons of Ayurveda have not fully discovered due to the lack of advancements in the research methodology. Moreover, this is based on scientific knowledge. Scientifically, it is becoming challenging to accept Ayurveda while the western medicine system is advanced as its whole process is based on validated research and advanced techniques.
